What happens to my API access after I stop using AI21?

For Pay-As-You-Go users, API access remains active as long as your account is open — you simply stop being charged when you stop making API calls. If you formally close your account, you have up to 30 days to retrieve any stored content before it is deleted.

Can I get a refund after cancelling?

All payments are non-refundable and non-cancellable per AI21's Terms of Use. The exception is if AI21 terminates your account for their own convenience, in which case you receive a prorated refund for unused prepaid time.

How do I reactivate my account after closing it?

Reactivation is not formally documented. You can contact support@ai21.com to inquire about restoring access, or sign up with the same email if allowed. Note that AI21 restricts each email to one organization.

How do I delete my data from AI21?

Email privacy@ai21.com with a data deletion request. AI21 will process it in accordance with applicable law. After account termination, your content is deleted after the 30-day retrieval window expires, unless longer retention is required by law.

Is AI21 a subscription service or pay-as-you-go?

AI21 Studio uses a Pay-As-You-Go model for most users — you are billed monthly only for the tokens you consume, with no fixed recurring fee. Enterprise customers may have annual contracts negotiated with the sales team.

Do I need to contact anyone to cancel an enterprise plan?

Yes. Enterprise and custom plan holders must provide written non-renewal notice at least 60 days before the end of their subscription term, sent to their account manager or to support@ai21.com. There is no self-service cancellation for these plans.

Log in to AI21 Studio

Go to studio.ai21.com and sign in to your account.

Open account menu

Click your profile picture or avatar in the top-right corner of the Studio dashboard.

Go to 'My Account'

Select 'My Account' from the dropdown menu.

Navigate to Billing & Plans

Inside account settings, click on the 'Billing & Plans' section to review your current plan and payment method.

Remove payment method or stop API usage

For Pay-As-You-Go plans: there is no recurring subscription fee — you are only charged for tokens consumed. Simply stop using the API to stop incurring charges. You can also remove your saved payment method here.

Request full account closure (optional)

If you want your account and data fully deleted, email support@ai21.com requesting account closure. There is no self-service account deletion button.
