Will I still have service after I cancel?

Yes. Your service continues and you are billed through to your next billing due date. There is no pro-rata refund for the unused days remaining in your billing cycle.

What happens to my phone number when I cancel?

If you do not port your number to a new carrier before cancelling, it is released and permanently lost. Always port your number first, then cancel — never the other way around.

Will I get a refund on unused data, minutes, or texts?

No. Unused plan entitlements are forfeited on disconnection with no refund or credit. You are charged for the full billing period regardless of usage.

Are there any cancellation fees?

Pay Monthly mobile plans with no fixed term have no early termination fee. Fixed-term broadband plans carry an early termination fee of up to $199. If you have a broadband modem and do not return it, you will be charged $0–$350 depending on the model and age. Device installment payments (Mobile Repayment Option) continue on their original schedule even after service cancellation.

Can I reactivate my account after cancelling?

You can sign up again as a new customer, but your original plan and phone number cannot be restored. You would go through a fresh sign-up process.

What if 2degrees keeps billing me after I cancel?

Use your cancellation reference number or confirmation email to dispute the charges. If 2degrees does not resolve the complaint within six weeks, escalate to the Telecommunications Dispute Resolution (TDR) scheme at tdr.co.nz.

Gather your account details

Before calling, have ready your account number (found in your monthly bill or by logging into my.2degrees.nz) and your date of birth, which are required for identity verification.

Port your number first (if keeping it)

If you want to keep your phone number, initiate a port to your new provider BEFORE cancelling. Cancelling first releases the number permanently and it cannot be recovered.

Call 200 or 0800 022 022

Call 200 from your 2degrees mobile (free) or 0800 022 022 from any NZ phone. Hours: Monday–Saturday 8am–8pm, Sunday and public holidays 10am–8pm NZST. From overseas: +64 22 200 2000.

Verify your identity

When connected to the agent, provide your account number and date of birth to pass identity verification.

Request cancellation explicitly

Tell the agent you want to cancel/terminate your Pay Monthly plan. Be explicit — say 'cancel', not 'change'. Agents may offer plan switches; decline if you want full cancellation.

Confirm fees and billing cutoff

Ask the agent to confirm: any early termination fee (up to $199 for fixed-term broadband), your final billing date (charged through to next due date, no pro-rata refund), and any remaining device installment payments (still due after cancellation).

Get a confirmation reference

Before hanging up, ask for a cancellation confirmation reference number or request a confirmation email. This is your proof of cancellation if billing continues in error.
