Can I still access my data after cancelling?

No. Once the cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing cycle, you lose all access to your account data including tickets, leads, users, channels, and business rules. Export any data you need before the billing cycle ends.

Can I reactivate my account after cancelling?

You can restore your account before the current billing cycle ends by contacting Zendesk Sales or Support. Once the billing cycle ends and the account is fully cancelled, reactivation may not be possible and data may be permanently deleted.

What happens to my data after cancellation?

Account data is deleted in accordance with Zendesk's Service Data Deletion Policy after cancellation takes effect. You should export tickets, contacts, and any other important data before your billing period ends.

Who is allowed to cancel the account?

Only the account owner can cancel a Zendesk account. Billing admins and regular agents do not have this permission. If the current owner is unavailable, you must first transfer account ownership before cancelling.

Can I cancel if I'm on an annual contract?

Annual contract customers (sales-assisted accounts) cannot self-cancel through the Admin Center. You must contact your Zendesk account representative and provide at least 30 days written notice before the end of your subscription term as required by the Customer Agreement.

Open Admin Center

Log in to your Zendesk account. Click the four-square grid icon (Admin Center) in the left sidebar, or navigate to your Zendesk subdomain followed by /admin.

Go to Billing > Subscription

In the Admin Center sidebar, click 'Account', then select 'Billing' and choose 'Subscription' from the submenu.

Open cancellation options

For newer accounts: click the 'Manage' button on the Subscription page. For legacy accounts: scroll to the bottom of the Subscription page and click 'Cancellations'.

Select 'Remove products or cancel account'

On the Manage subscription page, scroll to the bottom and click 'Remove products or cancel account'. To cancel the entire account (not just a product), click 'Cancel account' at the bottom of this page.

Confirm the cancellation

A confirmation dialog will appear warning that you will lose access to all data. Click 'Cancel account' again to confirm. Note: this button appears twice — once to initiate and once to confirm.

Complete the cancellation survey

Select a reason for cancellation from the survey options and submit. This is required to finalize the cancellation. The account remains active until the end of the current billing cycle.
