Can I pause my Elastic Security subscription instead of cancelling?

No. Elastic does not offer a pause or suspend option. Your only choices are to keep paying or delete your deployment and lose all data.

Will I get a refund if I cancel before the end of my billing period?

No. Elastic's charges are explicitly non-refundable. For monthly cloud subscriptions, billing stops at the hour of deletion; you will receive one final invoice for usage up to that point. Special circumstances may be reviewed by contacting support at https://support.elastic.co with the 'Billing issue' category.

What happens to my data after I delete my deployment?

All data and snapshots are permanently and immediately erased upon deletion — this cannot be undone. There is no grace period or read-only access phase. Export any data you need before deleting.

What happens to Elastic Security features if I let my self-managed license expire?

Your cluster reverts to the free Basic tier. All Elastic Security features — SIEM, endpoint security, detection rules, and machine learning anomaly detection — are disabled. The Elasticsearch cluster continues running with open-source features only.

Can I reactivate my subscription after cancelling?

Yes, you can create a new Elastic Cloud deployment at any time. However, all previous data is permanently deleted upon cancellation, so you would start fresh with no ability to restore the old environment.

What if I subscribed through AWS Marketplace or Google Cloud Marketplace?

You must cancel through the respective marketplace portal (AWS Marketplace or GCP Marketplace), not through the Elastic Cloud console. Manage the subscription directly in your cloud provider's marketplace account settings.

Log in to Elastic Cloud Console

Go to https://cloud.elastic.co and sign in with your Elastic account credentials.

Locate your deployment or project

On the home page, find your deployment (hosted) or project (serverless) in the respective section. For hosted deployments, look under 'Hosted deployments'; for serverless, look under 'Serverless Projects'.

Open the Actions menu

Click the 'Actions' dropdown menu on the deployment or project card. This appears as a button in the top-right area of the deployment entry.

Select Delete

For hosted deployments: select 'Delete deployment'. For serverless projects: select 'Delete project'. This will prompt a confirmation dialog.

Confirm deletion

Read the warning that all data will be permanently erased and snapshots deleted. Type the confirmation text if prompted, then click the 'Delete' or 'Confirm' button to proceed.

Verify billing stops

Billing stops immediately at the hour of deletion for hourly-billed resources. Check your billing summary under Account > Billing to confirm no further charges are pending. One final invoice may be issued for usage accrued before deletion.

Contact sales for annual or self-managed subscriptions

If you have an annual Elastic Cloud contract or a self-managed (on-premises) subscription, self-service cancellation is not available. Contact your Elastic Account Executive or open a billing support case at https://support.elastic.co selecting 'Billing issue' as the category, or email ar@elastic.co.
