Can I access my data after cancelling?

Yes, but only for 30 calendar days after termination. During this window you can download your data or request a copy in an industry-standard format. After 30 days, Heap permanently deletes all customer data with no recovery option.

Will I receive a refund if I cancel mid-term?

No. Heap Order Forms are explicitly non-cancellable and non-refundable mid-term. Refunds on prepaid fees are only available if you are cancelling due to Heap's own material breach of contract.

How far in advance do I need to cancel to avoid auto-renewal?

You must provide written notice at least 90 days before your contract end date. Missing this window triggers automatic renewal for another full term at the same price.

Can I reactivate my account after cancelling?

You can contact sales@heap.io to start a new subscription, but your previous data will have been deleted after the 30-day post-termination window. There is no automatic reactivation that restores historical data.

Can I downgrade instead of cancelling completely?

Yes. Heap offers a Free tier (up to 10,000 sessions/month with 6 months of data history). You can request a downgrade to Free via Account Settings > Billing or by contacting your Account Manager, which avoids full account deletion.

How do I request deletion of end-user data collected by Heap?

For GDPR/CCPA end-user data deletion requests (not account cancellation), use Heap's User Deletion API at developers.heap.io/reference/user-deletion or email privacy@heapanalytics.com.

Log in as an admin

Go to app.heapanalytics.com and sign in with an account that has admin privileges. Only workspace admins can initiate cancellation — non-admins must first request admin access.

Open Account Settings

Click your profile icon in the top-right corner of the Heap dashboard and select 'Account Settings' from the dropdown menu.

Navigate to Billing

In the left sidebar of Account Settings, click 'Billing' or 'Subscription' to view your current plan details.

Check for self-service cancellation option

Look for a 'Cancel Subscription' or 'Downgrade Plan' button. This option may be available for lower-tier paid plans. If visible, click it and follow the on-screen prompts to confirm cancellation.

Contact Account Manager or support if no self-service option

For Growth, Pro, Premier, or enterprise plans, no self-service cancel button is available. Email sales@heap.io or contact your assigned Account Manager directly to request cancellation. For free plan accounts, submit a request via the Help Center at help.heap.io using the 'Get Support' option.

Submit written cancellation notice

For annual or multi-year contracts, send a formal written cancellation notice per your Order Form terms. You must provide at least 90 days' written notice before your contract renewal date to prevent automatic renewal for another full term.

Export your data within 30 days

After cancellation is confirmed, you have 30 calendar days to download or request a copy of your data in an industry-standard format. After this window, Heap permanently deletes all customer data.

Remove the Heap tracking script

Within 10 business days of termination, remove Heap's JavaScript snippet from all your sites and apps, then provide written certification of removal to Heap/Contentsquare.
