What happens to my Realm world data after I cancel?

You can download your world backup from the Realm before or shortly after the subscription ends. Mojang retains world backups on their servers for approximately 18 months after expiry. After that window, cloud copies are deleted. Downloaded worlds can still be played in single-player or on a private server.

Can I reactivate my Realm after cancelling?

Yes. You can resubscribe at any time from account.microsoft.com/services or through the Minecraft in-game menu. If your world backup is still within the 18-month retention window, it can be restored to a new Realm.

Sign in to your Microsoft account

Go to account.microsoft.com and sign in with the Microsoft account linked to your Minecraft Realms subscription.

Open Services & subscriptions

Click on 'Services & subscriptions' in the top navigation bar. This lists all active Microsoft subscriptions including Minecraft Realms.

Find your Minecraft Realms subscription

Scroll through your active subscriptions to locate 'Minecraft Realms' or 'Minecraft Realms Plus'. Click the 'Manage' link next to it.

Click 'Cancel subscription'

On the subscription management page, click 'Cancel subscription'. You may be shown your renewal date and a reminder that access continues until the end of the current billing period.

Confirm cancellation

Click 'Confirm cancellation' (or 'Cancel subscription') on the confirmation prompt. You will receive a confirmation email from Microsoft. Your Realm remains accessible until the current billing cycle ends.
