Can I cancel mid-contract and get a refund?

No. All fees are non-cancelable and non-refundable for the current contract term per the Splunk General Terms. The only exception is if AppDynamics commits a material breach that goes uncured for 30+ days after written notice, in which case a pro-rata refund of prepaid unused fees may apply.

What happens to my data after cancellation?

AppDynamics makes your Customer Content available for retrieval for 30 days after subscription termination. After that window closes, all data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

Can I reactivate my subscription after cancelling?

Yes. You would need to contact Cisco/Splunk sales and execute a new Order Form. There is no self-service reactivation — reactivation goes through the same sales process as a new purchase.

What happens to the AppDynamics agents installed in my applications?

Agents continue to run in your infrastructure after the license expires, but they will stop reporting data to AppDynamics. You must manually uninstall the agents from your app servers, containers, and databases to fully remove the software.

How much advance notice do I need to give before cancelling?

The Splunk General Terms require at least 1 day's notice before the end of your current term, but your specific Order Form may require 30–90 days advance notice. Always check your contract for the exact notice period requirement.

How do I cancel an AppDynamics free trial account?

Free trial accounts cannot be self-cancelled through the UI. Email AppDynamics support requesting account deletion. Alternatively, stop logging in and reporting data — trial accounts are automatically purged after 90 days of inactivity.

Review your contract terms

Locate your Order Form or Master Subscription Agreement to confirm your renewal date and required notice period. Enterprise contracts often require 30–90 days advance notice of non-renewal, though the Splunk General Terms require a minimum of 1 day before term end.

Contact your Account Executive

Reach out to your assigned Cisco/Splunk Account Executive or Account Manager directly. Inform them clearly that you want to cancel (non-renew) at the end of your current subscription term. There is no self-service cancellation button or portal.

Send written non-renewal notice

Follow up your verbal request with a written email referencing your contract or Order Form number and stating your intent not to renew. Keep a copy of this email as proof of your cancellation notice.

Open a support case if needed

If you cannot reach your Account Manager, log in to the Cisco support portal at mycase.cloudapps.cisco.com, click 'Open a Case', and select an account/licensing inquiry. Reference your subscription and request confirmation of non-renewal.

Export your data

Before your subscription ends, export all dashboards, metric configurations, alert policies, and any data you need to retain. AppDynamics only allows data retrieval for 30 days after termination, after which all Customer Content is permanently deleted.

Uninstall AppDynamics agents

Remove AppDynamics agents from all your application servers, containers, and databases. Agents will continue running after license expiry but will stop reporting data. Uninstalling them fully completes the offboarding.
