When does the cancellation take effect?

Can I cancel immediately if my pet dies or is rehomed?

Yes. Contact IF by phone (0770-117 177) or via the online form, explain the situation, and the policy will be cancelled immediately rather than waiting for the renewal date.

Will I get a refund if I cancel before renewal?

Yes. IF refunds any overpaid premium for the unused period. Refunds go to your direct debit account or within 3–5 business days if bank details are registered in Mina sidor.

Is there a cancellation fee?

No. There is no cancellation fee. Within the 14-day cooling-off period, IF only deducts a pro-rated premium for the days the policy was active.

Can I reactivate my policy after cancellation?

Reactivation is not available as a self-service option. You would need to contact IF directly to discuss taking out a new policy, which may be subject to underwriting and health assessments for your pet.

What is the cooling-off period if I just signed up?

Go to minasidor.if.se and log in with BankID or your IF credentials.

Open your pet insurance policy

Click 'Försäkringar' (Insurance) in the top navigation, then select your pet insurance policy from the list.

Click 'Hantera försäkringen'

On the policy detail page, click the 'Hantera försäkringen' (Manage Insurance) button.

Select 'Säg upp försäkringen'

From the manage menu, choose 'Säg upp försäkringen' (Cancel Insurance) to initiate the cancellation.

Confirm cancellation details

Review the termination date (your annual renewal date) and confirm the cancellation. The policy stays active until that date.

Alternative: Submit online cancellation form

If online self-service is unavailable, go to if.se/privat/kundservice/mejla-oss/uppsagning-av-forsakring, select 'Djur' (Pet) from the insurance type dropdown, fill in your pet's name, desired termination date, and your contact details, then submit the form.
