Does UniFi Protect require a paid subscription?

No. Core UniFi Protect functionality — including local recording, remote access, and smart detection — is included with your hardware purchase at no extra monthly cost. The cloud subscription applies to add-on services like Official UniFi Hosting (cloud-hosted controller, $30/month) or UniFi Identity Enterprise, not to Protect video storage itself.

Will I lose access immediately after cancelling?

No. Your service remains active until the end of the current billing cycle. Ubiquiti does not cut off access immediately upon cancellation.

Can I get a refund after cancelling?

No. Ubiquiti does not issue prorated refunds upon cancellation. You retain access through the remainder of your paid billing period, but no partial refund is provided for unused time.

What happens to my recordings and data after cancellation?

Since UniFi Protect stores footage locally on your own hardware (NVR, Cloud Key, Dream Machine, etc.), your recordings are not affected by cancelling a cloud plan. For cloud-hosted controller subscriptions, the hosted instance (network configuration data) is terminated at the end of the billing period.

Can I reactivate my subscription later?

Yes. You can resubscribe at any time by logging into account.ui.com and going through the sign-up flow again for the relevant service.

What if my payment fails — will my subscription be auto-cancelled?

Ubiquiti retries failed payments three times (approximately at +1, +2, and +7 days after the initial failure). If all retries fail, the subscription is automatically cancelled and the service is suspended.

Log in to Ubiquiti Account Portal

Go to account.ui.com and sign in with your Ubiquiti account credentials (email and password).

Open Settings or Plan & Billing

Once logged in, navigate to 'Settings' in the left sidebar, then select 'Plan & Billing' (exact label may vary by product — UniFi Hosting shows 'Plan & Billing', UniFi Identity Enterprise shows 'Plan').

Locate Your Active Subscription

Find your active cloud subscription in the list. Click the three-dot menu (⋯) next to the subscription, or click the 'Manage' button.

Select Cancel Subscription

From the dropdown or management panel, click 'Cancel Subscription'. For UniFi Identity Enterprise, click 'Downgrade' to revert to the free Basic Plan instead.

Confirm Cancellation

Follow the on-screen confirmation prompts to finalize the cancellation. Your service will remain active until the end of the current billing period — no immediate cutoff.
