No. All your chat history, characters, and account data remain intact. Only c.ai+ paid features are removed when your billing period ends.

Can I get a refund after cancelling?

Web (direct) subscriptions are non-refundable except where required by law. If you subscribed through the iOS App Store or Google Play, you can request a refund directly through Apple or Google, which may be more successful.

Do I keep access until the end of my billing period?

Yes. After cancelling, your c.ai+ benefits continue until the end of the current billing cycle. You then revert to the free tier automatically.

Can I reactivate my subscription after cancelling?

Yes, at any time by re-subscribing through character.ai or the same app store where you originally purchased.

What if I subscribed on the app but can't cancel on the website?

Open Character.AI settings

Log in at character.ai, then click your profile icon in the upper-right corner and select 'Settings' from the dropdown menu.

Go to Subscription tab

In Settings, navigate to the 'Subscription' tab to see your active c.ai+ plan.

Click 'Manage' to open the customer portal

Click the 'Manage' button next to your active c.ai+ subscription. Enter your account email address when prompted — a secure login link will be sent to your inbox within ~5 minutes.

Open the customer portal link

Check your inbox (and spam folder) for an email containing a 'Log in to your Customer Portal' button. Click it to open the cancellation portal.

Cancel the subscription

In the customer portal, click 'Cancel My Subscription'. You may be asked for a cancellation reason — this is optional. Confirm the cancellation to complete the process.
