Can I still use Slack after canceling my paid plan?

Yes. Your workspace moves to the free plan, which allows unlimited users and messages but limits visible message history to the most recent 90 days. Data older than 1 year is permanently deleted.

Will I get a refund when I downgrade?

Slack does not issue cash refunds. However, any unused portion of your billing cycle is converted into Slack credits applied to your account. These credits are non-transferable, non-refundable, and expire if you terminate your paid plan entirely.

Can I reactivate my paid plan after downgrading?

Yes. You can upgrade again at any time from Admin > Manage billing > Change plan details. Any remaining Slack credits will be applied to the new subscription.

What happens to my data when I downgrade to free?

Open Admin settings

From your desktop, click 'Admin' in the left sidebar. If you don't see 'Admin', click your workspace name at the top-left instead. Note: you must be a Workspace Owner or Admin to access billing settings.

Go to Manage billing

Select 'Manage billing' from the menu that appears.

Open plan change options

On the billing Overview tab, click 'Change plan details'.

Select Downgrade to Free

Choose 'Downgrade to Free' from the plan options. You'll then be asked to choose when the change takes effect: immediately or on your next renewal date.

Proceed to checkout

Click 'Continue to Checkout'. Review the downgrade summary, which will warn you that you'll lose access to paid features and that message/file history will be limited to the most recent 90 days.

Confirm the downgrade

Click 'Downgrade Slack' to confirm. Your workspace will be moved to the free plan at the chosen time.
