Can I access my data after dropping my Snowflake account?

The account is locked immediately upon being dropped, meaning you cannot query or access data during the grace period. You should export all necessary data before initiating the drop. After the grace period expires, all data is permanently deleted.

Will I get a refund for unused credits?

Snowflake does not provide refunds for unused credits or prepaid compute. On-demand (pay-as-you-go) accounts are billed only for what you use, so there is typically nothing to refund. Annual or capacity-based contract customers should review their contract terms — mid-term cancellation generally does not entitle you to a credit refund.

Can I reactivate my account after dropping it?

Yes, during the grace period (3–90 days you set at drop time) an ORGADMIN can restore the account using 'Admin > Accounts > … > Undrop Account' in Snowsight, or by running the SQL command UNDROP ACCOUNT . Once the grace period expires and the account is permanently deleted, it cannot be recovered.

What happens to my data after the account is permanently deleted?

After the grace period ends, Snowflake permanently deletes all data stored in the account, including databases, tables, stages, and all associated objects. This deletion is irreversible. Snowflake does not retain backups on your behalf after deletion.

What if I only have a trial account — can I cancel it myself?

Trial accounts and organizations with only a single account cannot use the self-service drop flow in Snowsight. You must contact Snowflake Support at support.snowflake.com and request account closure. Provide your account identifier and request confirmation once closed.

Do I need to cancel marketplace or data-sharing listings before dropping my account?

Yes. You must remove all active Marketplace listings, revoke data shares, and end any active consumer relationships before you can drop an account. Snowflake will block the drop if any of these are still active. Navigate to 'Data > Marketplace' and 'Data > Shared Data' in Snowsight to clean these up first.

Sign in as Organization Admin

Log in to Snowsight (app.snowflake.com) using an account with the ORGADMIN role. You cannot drop an account while logged into that same account — you must use a separate admin account within your organization. If you only have one account, skip to step 6 and contact Support.

Navigate to Admin > Accounts

In the Snowsight left sidebar, click 'Admin', then select 'Accounts' from the submenu. This lists all accounts in your organization.

Locate the account to cancel

Find the active account you want to close in the accounts list. Hover over it to reveal the action menu icon (three dots '…') on the right side of the row.

Select 'Drop Account'

Click the '…' menu next to the account and select 'Drop Account' from the dropdown. A confirmation dialog will appear.

Set grace period and confirm

In the dialog, enter a grace period between 3 and 90 days. During this window the account is locked but can be restored. Once satisfied, click 'Drop Account' to confirm. The account enters a scheduled-for-deletion state.

Contact Support if only one account

If your organization has only a single account (common for trial and individual users), self-service drop is not available. Submit a support case at support.snowflake.com requesting account closure, providing your account identifier and the reason for cancellation.

Export your data before grace period ends

While the account is in the grace period it remains locked. Export any data you need before requesting deletion or before the grace period expires, as all data is permanently deleted afterward.
