Can I still use Stripe after canceling?

No. Once your Stripe account is closed, you immediately lose access to the Dashboard, payment processing, transaction history, and all account data. Export your data before closing.

Will I get a refund on my annual plan?

No. Stripe's annual plans (Foundations, Expansion, Scale) are non-refundable. You are committed to the full annual fee regardless of when you cancel. Your plan remains active until the end of the billing term.

Can I reactivate my account after closing?

No. Account closure is permanent and the same account cannot be reopened. You may create a new Stripe account with the same business information, though this is subject to Stripe's review.

What happens to my funds when I close my account?

Any remaining balance must be paid out to your bank before closing. Stripe then holds funds for approximately 180 days post-closure to cover potential chargebacks. Scheduled payouts will still process.

What happens to my customer and payment data?

You lose access to all data immediately upon closure. Stripe retains some data internally for legal and compliance purposes. Export all transaction records, customer data, and reports before closing your account.

Can I cancel a specific paid Stripe plan without closing my account?

Yes. Go to Settings > Your plans > find the plan > Manage plan > Cancel. The plan will remain active until the end of the annual term and will not auto-renew.

Log in to Stripe Dashboard

Go to stripe.com and log in to your Stripe account.

Open Settings

Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the Dashboard to open Settings.

Navigate to Account Details

In the Settings menu, click 'Business' in the left sidebar, then select 'Account details'.

Ensure Zero Balance

Before proceeding, confirm your account balance is zero. If you have a positive balance, initiate a payout to your bank. If negative, you must bring it to zero first.

Click 'Close account'

Scroll to the bottom of the Account details page and click the red 'Close account' button.

Verify your identity

Stripe will ask you to confirm your identity — either enter your password or a 6-digit code sent to your registered email address.

Confirm closure

Review the warning dialog and click 'Close account' to permanently close your Stripe account.
