How many notes can I have on Evernote's free plan?

Evernote's free plan allows up to 50 notes and 1 notebook. You also get 60 MB of monthly upload allowance. Notes you already have are not deleted, but you cannot create more than 50.

Can I export all my Evernote notes before cancelling?

Yes. In the Evernote desktop app, select all notes and export them as an ENEX file (Evernote XML format). Most note-taking apps (Notion, Bear, Obsidian) can import ENEX files.

What happened to Evernote after the ownership change?

Evernote was acquired by Bending Spoons in 2023, which led to significant price increases and feature changes. The free plan became much more restricted. If you are affected by recent pricing changes, the free plan is more limited than it used to be.

Log in to Evernote

Go to evernote.com and sign in with your email and password.

Open Account Settings

Click your profile picture or initials in the top-right corner and select 'Account Summary' from the dropdown.

Navigate to Billing

In the Account Summary page, click 'Billing' or 'Manage Subscription' to view your current plan.

Cancel Subscription

Click 'Cancel Subscription' and follow the prompts. Evernote will show you a comparison of what the free plan offers versus your current plan.

Confirm Cancellation

Select your reason for cancelling and click 'Confirm cancellation'. Your subscription remains active until the end of the billing period. Your notes will not be deleted when you downgrade.
