Can I still access my data after cancelling?

Yes. Cancelling downgrades your account to the free tier — all submitted expense reports and receipts remain accessible. Only fully closing your account (not just cancelling) risks losing unapproved or draft expenses.

Can I cancel an annual plan early?

You can submit a 'Request early cancellation' via Account > Subscription, but approval is discretionary and not guaranteed. After the first billing month, Expensify does not issue refunds for remaining months even if early cancellation is approved.

Will I get a refund after cancelling?

Generally no. Expensify's policy states all fees are non-refundable and there are no credits for partially-used periods. The only exception is new subscribers who have been billed exactly once with no outstanding balance, who may request a first-month refund.

Can I reactivate my subscription after cancelling?

Log in via web browser

Go to https://www.expensify.com and log in. Cancellation must be done on the web — the mobile app does not support subscription cancellation.

Open Settings

Click 'Settings' in the top-right menu. In New Expensify, navigate to 'Account' in the left sidebar.

Go to Workspaces / Subscription

Classic: go to Settings > Workspaces > Individual > Subscription. New Expensify: go to Account > Subscription.

Reveal cancellation option (Classic Group plans only)

If you are on a Classic Group policy and don't see a cancel button, click 'Show Details' in the top-right of the Subscriptions section to reveal the 'Cancel Subscription' button.

Click 'Cancel Subscription' or 'Delete Workspace'

Classic individual/group: click 'Cancel Subscription'. New Expensify (monthly): click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to your workspace name and select 'Delete workspace'. Annual plan users: click 'Request early cancellation' instead — this submits a ticket for human review and is not guaranteed.

Confirm cancellation

Confirm the prompt. You may be asked to provide a reason for cancelling. Deletion of a workspace is permanent and irreversible. Only the billing owner can perform this action.

Expensify sends a confirmation email upon cancellation. Your account downgrades to the free tier — data and submitted reports remain accessible.
