1

Review your contract terms

Locate your Master Subscription Agreement (MSA) or Order Form. Identify your contract end date and the auto-renewal non-renewal notice deadline — typically 60–90 days before expiry, sometimes up to 180 days. Missing this window auto-renews the contract for another full term.

2

Send written non-renewal notice to legal@workday.com

Before your notice deadline, send a formal written notice of non-renewal to legal@workday.com. State your company name, contract details, and intent not to renew. Notices become effective on the third business day after mailing. Keep a timestamped copy for your records.

3

Contact your Customer Success Manager or Account Executive

Email or call your assigned Workday Customer Success Manager (CSM) or Account Executive to formally communicate intent to terminate or not renew. They will initiate the offboarding process and may offer retention concessions such as discounts or restructured terms.

4

Request a data retrieval period in writing

Submit a written request on or before the termination/expiry date to trigger your Retrieval Period — up to 60 days of read-only access to export data in CSV, JSON, or XML formats. After this period Workday permanently deletes all customer content.

5

Complete data export before Retrieval Period ends

Log in to your Workday tenant during the Retrieval Period and export all required data (payroll records, employee data, financial reports). Use Workday's built-in report exports. Once the Retrieval Period expires, data access is permanently revoked.
