Locate your service provider's contact information
Alarm.com does not sell directly to consumers — your subscription is managed by an authorized dealer/service provider. Find their contact info by: (1) opening the Alarm.com app and tapping the menu icon → 'Contact Us' or 'Settings' to see your provider's name and phone number, (2) checking your billing statement or invoice, or (3) looking for stickers/signage on your alarm panel or control box.
Review your contract terms
Before calling, locate your monitoring agreement to check: contract length (commonly 2–5 years), monthly fee, and early termination clause. Many dealers charge 75–100% of remaining monthly fees as an early termination fee (ETF), which can total hundreds to thousands of dollars. Month-to-month and no-contract plans can be canceled at any time.
Call your service provider to request cancellation
Phone your dealer directly and state you want to cancel your Alarm.com Interactive Services monitoring plan. Have your account number, address, and the name on the account ready. Ask them to confirm: (1) whether you are under contract and your end date, (2) any early termination fees that will apply, and (3) the effective cancellation date.
Decline retention offers and confirm in writing
The agent may offer discounted rates, a service pause, or a plan downgrade to keep you. Decline if you wish to proceed. Ask the representative to send a written cancellation confirmation — by email if possible — including the cancellation date and any final charges. Note the representative's name and the date/time of the call.
Return any leased equipment (if applicable)
If you leased hardware (cameras, sensors, control panel) through your provider, ask about the return process. Some dealers require you to return equipment within a specific window or face additional fees. Purchased equipment remains yours.
Verify service has been terminated
After the stated cancellation date, confirm that: (1) your Alarm.com app/portal shows the account as inactive or you lose access, (2) no further monitoring charges appear on your bank or credit card statement, and (3) your alarm panel shows 'No Service' or similar status. Contact your provider immediately if billing continues.
