Do I lose access immediately when I cancel?

No. Pro access remains active until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account reverts to the free tier at no charge.

Is a refund available after cancellation?

Codecademy's policy is no refunds, prorated or otherwise. If your annual plan auto-renewed unexpectedly, contact support@codecademy.com within 48 hours of the charge — some users report exceptions in that window.

Will my course progress be saved?

Yes. All learning progress is saved indefinitely on your account, even on the free tier. You can pick up where you left off if you resubscribe.

Should I download my certificates before cancelling?

Yes. Completion certificates are a Pro feature. Download them from your profile page before your billing period ends, as you will lose access to them on the free tier.

Can I reactivate my Pro subscription later?

Yes. Log in to your existing account and resubscribe at any time. Your progress will be intact.

Does cancelling delete my account?

No. Cancellation only stops the paid subscription. Your account and all data remain. To fully delete your account, you must do so separately in Account Settings after the subscription period has ended.

Log in to Codecademy

Go to codecademy.com and log in to your account.

Open account menu

Click your avatar or profile picture in the top-right corner of the page.

Go to Account Settings

Select "Account Settings" from the dropdown menu.

Open the Subscription tab

In the left sidebar, click "Subscription" (may also appear as "Payment and plan" or "Manage Payments").

Click Manage Subscription

Click "Manage Subscription" or "Cancel Pro" / "I want to cancel my subscription".

Decline retention offer

Codecademy shows a retention screen offering a 30–50% discount or (for monthly plans) the option to pause for 1–3 months. Click "No thanks, I still want to cancel" to proceed.

Select cancellation reason

Choose a reason from the required dropdown menu.

Confirm cancellation

Click "Confirm cancellation". A confirmation email will be sent to your registered email address.
