Can I still access my buckets after cancelling?

You retain access through the end of the current billing period. After that, bucket access is suspended and API requests return errors, but your data remains stored securely for up to 30 days before deletion.

How long before my data is deleted?

Cloudflare retains your data securely for up to 30 days after subscription cancellation or suspension. If you do not reactivate within that window, your bucket data may be permanently deleted.

Can I reactivate R2 after cancelling?

Yes. Go to Storage & Databases > R2 > Overview and complete the checkout flow again to re-add an R2 subscription. If you reactivate within the 30-day data retention window, your existing buckets and objects should still be accessible.

Are there any cancellation fees?

No cancellation fees or early termination penalties. The only charge is your normal usage for the billing period in which you cancel.

Does removing my domain from Cloudflare cancel R2?

No. Cloudflare explicitly warns that changing DNS settings or removing a domain does not automatically cancel subscriptions. You must manually cancel through Billing > Subscriptions.

Delete all R2 buckets

In the Cloudflare dashboard go to Storage & Databases > R2 > Overview. Delete all objects inside each bucket first (buckets must be empty), then delete each bucket. This is required before billing can be cancelled.

Open Billing

Click your account name or avatar in the top-right corner of the Cloudflare dashboard and select 'Billing' from the dropdown menu.

Go to Subscriptions

In the Billing section, click the 'Subscriptions' tab to see all active subscriptions on your account.

Locate R2 subscription

Find the R2 subscription listed under 'Active Subscriptions'.

Click Cancel

Click the 'Cancel' button next to the R2 subscription entry.

Select cancellation reason

A feedback prompt appears. Select the applicable reason(s) for cancellation from the provided options.

Confirm cancellation

Click 'Confirm' to complete the cancellation. You will see a warning: 'FEES ARE NONREFUNDABLE. YOU WILL BE BILLED IN FULL FOR THE SUBSCRIPTION TERM IN WHICH YOU CANCEL'.
