Can I downgrade from a Fixed plan back to Free or Pay as You Go?

Upstash does not always allow self-serve downgrades from paid plans. If there is no plan selector in the console, contact support@upstash.com to request a downgrade to Pay as You Go or the Free tier.

Will I get a refund if I cancel mid-month?

No. Upstash's Terms of Service explicitly state there are no refunds for partial months or partial years of service, and no downgrade refunds. Your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period.

What happens to my data after I cancel or delete my account?

If you delete your account, all data is permanently and immediately deleted and cannot be recovered. Upstash states data is completely purged within 6 months of deletion. If you only suspend or stop paying, resources become inaccessible but may be preserved temporarily.

Can I reactivate my account after cancellation?

Account deletion is permanent — you cannot reverse it or recover data. However, you can always create a new Upstash account and set up QStash again from scratch.

What if I subscribed via AWS Marketplace?

If you subscribed to QStash through the AWS Marketplace, you must cancel through the AWS Marketplace console, not directly through Upstash. Contact support@upstash.com if you need assistance.

Is there a phone number I can call to cancel?

No. Upstash explicitly states they cannot cancel accounts in response to phone requests. Use the console self-serve options or email support@upstash.com.

Log in to Upstash Console

Go to https://console.upstash.com and sign in with your Upstash account credentials.

Open QStash section

In the left sidebar, click 'QStash' to open your QStash dashboard.

Navigate to your QStash instance settings

Click on your QStash instance, then look for the 'Settings' tab or a plan/billing section within the instance detail page.

Change or downgrade your plan

Locate the plan selector — for Pay as You Go users, messages simply stop being billed when unused. For Fixed plan users (Fixed 1M at $180/mo or Fixed 10M at $420/mo), select a lower plan or contact support@upstash.com to switch back to Pay as You Go or Free tier, as Upstash does not always allow self-serve downgrades from paid plans.

Remove Prod Pack add-on (if applicable)

If you have the Prod Pack add-on (+$200/mo), look for the Prod Pack toggle at the top right of the QStash detail page and disable it.

Delete account to stop all billing (optional)

To fully terminate your Upstash account: first delete all databases and clusters, then go to Account > Settings > Delete Account and confirm. All data is permanently and immediately deleted and cannot be recovered.
