1

Log in as store owner

Go to admin.shopify.com and sign in. Only the store owner account can cancel — staff accounts do not have this permission.

2

Cancel third-party apps first

Go to Settings → Apps and sales channels and click Uninstall on each paid app. Canceling your Shopify plan does NOT automatically cancel app billing — you will continue to be charged by apps unless you uninstall them manually.

3

Navigate to Settings → Plan

Click Settings in the bottom-left sidebar of the Shopify admin, then select Plan to view your current subscription details.

4

Click 'Cancel plan'

Click the 'Cancel plan' button on the Plan page. If you are on a free trial, the button reads 'Cancel trial'. Shopify will immediately present the 'Pause and Build' plan at $9/month as an alternative — scroll past this offer and click the link to continue with full cancellation.

5

Review terms and click Continue

Read the cancellation terms displayed on the confirmation screen, then click Continue to proceed to the next step.

6

Select a cancellation reason

Choose the closest option from the dropdown menu (options include: Too expensive, Switching to another platform, Business is closed, Need features Shopify doesn't have, etc.), then click Continue.

7

Enter password and confirm deactivation

Enter your Shopify account password in the confirmation field, then click 'Deactivate store' to finalize cancellation. A confirmation email will be sent. Your store remains accessible until the end of your current billing cycle, after which it is deactivated.
