Can I get a refund after canceling my annual Smartsheet subscription?

No. Smartsheet's official policy states that canceled accounts do not qualify for pro-rated refunds. If you believe you have a special circumstance, you can contact the Finance team for a case-by-case review, but exceptions are rare.

How long do I have access after canceling?

If you cancel at the end of your billing cycle, you retain full access until the expiration date. If you cancel immediately, access ends right away. Either way, your sheets become read-only for 30 days after the subscription ends, then all owned data is permanently deleted.

Do I need to cancel 30 days before my renewal date?

Yes, for annual and invoice-billed plans. Smartsheet requires written notice at least 30 days before the renewal date, or the subscription automatically renews for another full year. Monthly plans can be canceled any time before the next billing date.

What happens to my data after I cancel?

Your sheets become read-only immediately after the subscription ends. After 30 days, all sheets and files you own are permanently deleted. Before canceling, export your data to Excel or Google Sheets, and transfer ownership of any sheets others rely on.

Can I reactivate my account after canceling?

Yes, you can reactivate and repurchase a plan. However, discontinued plan types (such as the old Team and Advanced plans) are no longer available, so you may not be able to restore your previous plan tier.

Log in to Smartsheet

Go to app.smartsheet.com and sign in to your account.

Open Account menu

In the left navigation bar, click 'Account' (or 'More' then 'Account' in the newer UI).

Go to Plan & Billing Info

Select 'Plan & Billing Info' from the Account menu.

Click Cancel Account

Scroll to find and click the 'Cancel Account' button on the Plan & Billing Info page.

Choose cancellation timing

A dialog appears. Select either 'Cancel account at the end of my current subscription (billing cycle)' to keep access until your billing period ends, or 'Cancel your account immediately' to end access right away. Note: a 'Switch to Free' downgrade option is also presented here — click past it if you want full cancellation.

Confirm cancellation

Click 'Confirm cancellation' to proceed.

Complete exit survey

Select a reason from the radio-button survey explaining why you are leaving, then click 'Submit'.

Save confirmation

A confirmation page displays your cancellation date. Save or screenshot this — you will need it if billing continues incorrectly.
