from $9.99/month
Try the online cancellation first
Go to onstar.com and sign in to your account. Navigate to 'My Account', then select 'OnStar' from the menu. Note: the online cancel flow is only fully available for residents of California and Vermont. All other users must cancel by phone or in-vehicle button.
Open 'My Plans'
Inside your OnStar account dashboard, click 'My Plans'. A list of your active OnStar service plans will appear.
Select the plan to cancel
Click the name of the specific plan you want to cancel (e.g. 'Safety & Security Plan', 'Remote Access Plan', or 'Connected Services'). If you want to cancel all services, repeat for each plan.
Click 'Cancel My Plan'
Review the cancellation summary screen, then click the 'Cancel My Plan' button to confirm. You will receive a confirmation email.
If online cancel is unavailable, call OnStar
Call 1-888-4ONSTAR (1-888-466-7827). When prompted, say 'Cancel my subscription' or press the option for account changes. Wait to be connected to an OnStar Advisor — typical hold time is 5–10 minutes.
Decline retention offers
The advisor will likely offer discounts (sometimes up to 50% off) or a free trial extension to retain you. Clearly state: 'I would like to fully cancel my subscription, no offers.' You may need to decline 2–3 offers before they proceed.
Confirm cancellation and get a reference number
Once the advisor confirms cancellation, ask for a cancellation confirmation number and note the date. Request a confirmation email for your records to protect against continued billing.
Alternative: use the in-vehicle blue button
Press the blue OnStar button in your vehicle. Tell the Advisor you want to cancel your subscription. The same phone-based cancellation flow applies — you will still face retention offers.
