Log in to your NYT account
Go to nytimes.com and log in with your account credentials. Click your username or account icon in the top-right corner of the page.
Open Account settings
From the dropdown menu, select 'Account' or navigate directly to https://myaccount.nytimes.com/seg/cancel. You can also select 'Subscription Overview' from the account menu.
Click 'Manage Subscription'
Find and click the 'Manage Subscription' button — NYT intentionally labels this button 'Manage' rather than 'Cancel' to obscure the cancellation path. Note: if the cancel button appears missing, disable your ad blocker or use a private/incognito browser window.
Select 'Cancel your Subscription'
On the subscription management page, click 'Cancel your Subscription'. This is a secondary link, often displayed in smaller text below the main account options.
Complete the cancellation survey
Select a reason for canceling from the multiple-choice survey (options include: price, not using it, content quality, technical issues). This step is required before proceeding.
Decline retention offers
If you selected 'price' as your reason, NYT will offer a discounted rate (commonly $1/week for 12 months or up to 70% off). Click 'No thanks' or 'Continue to cancel' to proceed without accepting the offer. You may also be offered a subscription pause of up to 12 weeks.
Confirm cancellation
Click the final 'Cancel Subscription' confirmation button. You will receive a cancellation confirmation email — save this email as proof of cancellation.
