1

Sign in to your Microsoft account

Go to account.microsoft.com and sign in with the Microsoft account used to purchase Microsoft 365. Make sure you use the exact account tied to the subscription.

2

Navigate to Services & subscriptions

Once signed in, click on 'Services & subscriptions' in the top navigation menu, or go directly to account.microsoft.com/services to see all active subscriptions.

3

Find Microsoft 365 and click Manage

Locate your Microsoft 365 subscription (Personal, Family, or Basic) in the list. Click the 'Manage' button next to it. If you only see 'Turn on recurring billing', the subscription is already set to expire and will not renew — no further action needed.

4

Click 'Cancel subscription'

On the subscription details page, click the 'Cancel subscription' link. This opens the cancellation flow and shows your current billing period end date and whether you qualify for a refund.

5

Review cancellation consequences

Microsoft displays what you will lose: OneDrive storage reverts from 1TB to 5GB, Office apps switch to read-only/view mode, and premium Outlook features are removed. Read through this page carefully.

6

Confirm cancellation intent

At the bottom of the review page, you are presented with two buttons: 'I want to keep my benefits' (to abort cancellation) and 'I don't want my subscription' (to proceed). Click 'I don't want my subscription'.

7

Receive cancellation confirmation

Microsoft displays a confirmation screen showing your subscription end date. You retain access to Microsoft 365 features until that date. A confirmation email is sent to your registered email address.
