How to Cancel AG Insurance (2026)
AG Insurance plans start from $0.00/month. Follow our 7-step guide to cancel your subscription in about 20 minutes — with tips to avoid retention offers.
Updated: May 2026
Locate your broker's contact details
AG Insurance sells exclusively through independent brokers — you cannot cancel directly online. Find your broker's name, address and phone number on your policy documents, invoices, or via the My AG portal at ag.be/particulieren/nl/my-ag (NL) or ag.be/particuliers/fr/myag (FR).
Check your notice deadline
For policies renewed from 1 October 2024 onward: 2 months' notice is required before the annual renewal date. From year 2 onward you may cancel at any time with 2 months' notice. For older contracts: 3 months' notice before renewal. Check your renewal date on your policy or annual invoice.
Write a cancellation letter
Prepare a signed letter including: your full name and address, policy number (from invoice or contract), a clear statement of cancellation, the desired end date, and — for car insurance — your licence plate number. Email alone has no legal value in Belgium.
Send by registered post (aangetekende brief / lettre recommandée)
Post the letter by registered mail to your broker's address or directly to AG Insurance: Emile Jacqmainlaan 53, 1000 Brussels. The postmark date counts as the submission date. Keep the proof of posting. Registered post costs approximately €9.27 at a Belgian post office.
Alternative: cancel digitally via itsme or eID
Since October 2024, digital cancellation with an electronic signature via the itsme app or eID through the insurer's or broker's secure digital environment is legally valid. Ask your broker if they support this channel — it is free and instant.
Await written confirmation
Your broker or AG Insurance must confirm the cancellation in writing. Keep this confirmation. If no reply within 2 weeks, follow up by phone at +32 (0)2 664 81 11. Do not assume silence equals acceptance.
Direct debit stops automatically
Once the cancellation is confirmed, the automatic premium collection (domiciliëring / domiciliation) stops without any separate action at your bank. Verify your next bank statement to confirm no further charges are taken.
