When does access stop after I request cancellation?

Access to CipherTrust/DPoD services stops immediately once Thales validates and processes your cancellation request. There is then a 90-day waiting period before all content (users, groups, keys, services) is permanently and irreversibly deleted.

Will I get a refund for the unused portion of my subscription?

Generally no. Thales holds customers to 'any agreed or committed amounts for the remainder of the agreed period' per their contract. Refunds are not standard and would need to be negotiated directly with your Thales account manager based on your specific contract terms.

Can I reactivate my account after cancellation?

During the 90-day grace period before permanent deletion, it may be possible to reverse the cancellation by contacting Thales support. After the 90-day period, data is permanently deleted and a new account would need to be created from scratch — no data recovery is possible.

How is my data deleted, and can I request earlier deletion?

After the 90-day waiting period, all tenant content including keys, users, groups, and service configurations is permanently deleted. If you need data deleted sooner than 90 days (e.g., for compliance reasons), you can request expedited deletion in your support ticket. Some data may be retained by Thales per their Privacy Policy for billing and administrative purposes.

What if I bought CipherTrust through AWS or Azure Marketplace?

You must cancel both with Thales (via support ticket) AND through the marketplace portal (AWS or Azure). Cancelling only in one place may result in continued billing from the marketplace. AWS Marketplace cancellations are done under 'Manage subscriptions' in the AWS Console.

Locate your Tenant ID

Log in to the DPoD marketplace portal at market.dpondemand.io. Navigate to your account or tenant settings to find your Tenant ID — you will need to supply this in the cancellation request. If you deployed via AWS Marketplace or Azure Marketplace, note your subscription/resource ID instead.

Export data and back up keys

Before cancelling, export any cryptographic keys, policies, or configuration data you wish to retain. Access stops immediately once the cancellation is validated, and all content (groups, users, services) is permanently deleted after a 90-day waiting period.

Open the Thales Customer Support Portal

Go to supportportal.thalesgroup.com. Log in with your registered account credentials. If you do not have a portal account, register first using your company email or call +1 410-469-1651 (24/7).

Create a new support case

Click 'Create Case' (or 'Submit a Request'). Select the appropriate product category — 'CipherTrust Data Security Platform' or 'Data Protection on Demand (DPoD)'. Set the case type to 'Account / Subscription Management'.

Request account/subscription cancellation in writing

In the case description, explicitly state that you are requesting cancellation/closure of your CipherTrust or DPoD tenant account. Include: your Tenant ID, the registered account email address, company name, and the desired effective cancellation date. Written cancellation requests are required per Thales policy.

Await confirmation and validation

Thales will validate your identity and ownership before processing the request. You will receive a confirmation ticket response. Access to services stops immediately upon validation. A 90-day grace period follows before permanent data deletion.

For marketplace subscriptions — cancel via the marketplace too

If purchased via AWS Marketplace, also cancel the subscription in the AWS Console under 'AWS Marketplace → Manage subscriptions → CipherTrust → Cancel subscription'. If via Azure Marketplace, cancel in the Azure Portal under 'SaaS subscriptions'. This stops billing at the marketplace level independently.
