1

Back up all your data

Before canceling, download any data you want to keep: SSH into servers and download files, export databases using mysqldump or pg_dump, save any StackScripts or configuration files, and download Linode backup snapshots you wish to retain.

2

Delete all Linode instances

Log in to cloud.linode.com. From the left sidebar, go to 'Linodes'. For each instance, click the three-dot menu (⋯) and select 'Delete'. You must power off the Linode first if it is running before the delete option becomes available.

3

Delete all other billable resources

Remove every remaining resource that incurs charges: go to 'Volumes' and delete all block storage volumes; go to 'NodeBalancers' and delete all load balancers; go to 'Object Storage' and empty then delete all buckets; go to 'Kubernetes' (LKE) and delete all clusters; go to 'Domains' and remove DNS zones if applicable. Verify the dashboard shows $0.00 in projected charges before proceeding.

4

Navigate to Account Settings

In the left sidebar, click 'Account' (or your username at the bottom), then select 'Settings' from the submenu. Alternatively, go directly to cloud.linode.com/account/settings.

5

Open the Close Account panel

Scroll down to the 'Close Account' section at the bottom of the Settings page. Click the red 'Close Account' button to open the confirmation dialog.

6

Complete the confirmation form

A confirmation form appears with two checkboxes. Check both boxes to confirm you want to close the account. Enter your account email address in the first text field. Optionally enter any feedback in the comments field.

7

Submit account closure

Click the 'Close Account' button to finalize cancellation. Any outstanding balance (past due or uninvoiced charges) is immediately charged to your default payment method on file.
