Updated: April 2026
Open Airtel Thanks App and go to Help
Open the Airtel Thanks app and log in with your registered mobile number. Tap the 'Help' icon in the bottom-right corner of the home screen.
Navigate to Raise a Request
In the Help section, follow the path: Mobile → Postpaid (or Broadband) → Account and Billing → Others → 'Raise a Request'. For broadband, navigate to Help & Support → Broadband → Disconnection.
Submit disconnection request
Type your disconnection message clearly stating you want to permanently cancel your connection. Submit the request. Alternatively, email 121@in.airtel.com from your registered email with your full name, address, and mobile number to disconnect — this method has fewer retention attempts.
Wait for verification call
Airtel will call you within 24–48 hours from customer care for verification. This is mandatory and cannot be skipped. During the call, you may be transferred to a 'Retention' team who will offer discounts or plan changes — decline firmly if you wish to proceed.
Clear outstanding dues
Pay any pending balance or final bill during or after the verification call. Disconnection cannot proceed with unpaid dues. Ask the agent for a final bill statement.
Save your Service Termination Number (STN)
After verification, Airtel will send a Service Termination Number (STN) via SMS or email. Save this as proof of your cancellation request. The actual disconnection completes within 7 working days.
Return devices (broadband only)
If cancelling Xstream Fiber broadband, return the modem/router, ONT device, and any set-top box to your nearest Airtel store. Always collect a receipt as proof of return — non-return penalties range from ₹1,500 to ₹3,000+.
