Understand the current model
As of November 2025, Affinity Photo (now 'Affinity by Canva') is completely free — no subscription is required for the core app. The only paid subscription tied to Affinity is Canva Pro, which unlocks AI tools (Canva AI Studio) inside the app. If you subscribed to Canva Pro for Affinity AI features, follow the steps below to cancel it.
Sign in to Canva
Go to canva.com and sign in with the account linked to your Canva Pro subscription — the same account you use to access Affinity's AI features.
Open Account Settings
Click your profile picture or avatar in the top-right corner of the Canva dashboard, then select 'Account settings' from the dropdown menu.
Navigate to Billing & Teams
In the left-hand sidebar of Account Settings, click 'Billing & teams'. Your current Canva Pro plan details and next renewal date are displayed here.
Click 'Cancel subscription'
Under your current plan, click the 'Cancel subscription' button. Canva will show a summary of features you will lose, such as Brand Kit, background remover, and Canva AI tools inside Affinity.
Select a cancellation reason and bypass retention offer
Choose a reason for cancelling from the list (e.g. 'Too expensive', 'Not using it enough') and click 'Continue'. Canva may present a retention offer such as a discounted plan or a plan pause option — click 'Cancel anyway' to skip these and proceed.
Confirm cancellation
On the final confirmation screen, click 'Confirm cancellation'. A confirmation email will be sent. Canva Pro access — including Affinity AI features — remains active until the end of the current billing period.
