1

Review your contract terms

Locate your Order Form and Master Software License and Services Agreement (MSA). Check the subscription term end date and any required notice period before initiating cancellation. Alation contracts are negotiated per-organization and may have specific termination clauses.

2

Contact your Alation Account Manager

Reach out directly to your dedicated Alation Account Executive or Customer Success Manager via email or phone. If you do not have their contact, go to https://www.alation.com/contact-us/ and submit a message stating you wish to discuss contract termination.

3

Submit written termination notice

Send a formal written notice of intent to terminate to your account manager and to Alation's legal/support team. Under the MSA, material breach terminations require 30-day written notice and a cure period. Non-renewal cancellations must follow the notice period specified in your Order Form (typically 30–90 days before renewal).

4

Open a support case via Alation Help Center

Log in to the Alation Support Portal at help.alation.com as your organization's designated Support Administrator. Open a new support case referencing 'subscription termination' to create a formal record of your cancellation request.

5

Confirm data export and deletion timeline

Before access is disabled, export any Customer Data you wish to retain. Under the MSA, all Customer Data and service accounts are permanently deleted within 30 calendar days of termination. You may submit a written request for Alation to return or securely destroy Customer Personal Data.

6

Receive termination confirmation

Alation will confirm the termination effective date in writing. On that date, all licenses terminate automatically, access is disabled, and any outstanding payment obligations become immediately due per the MSA.
