What happens to my shares and mutual funds if I close my Zerodha account?

You must sell all your holdings before closing your Zerodha account. Go to kite.zerodha.com and log in with your Zerodha client ID and password, then complete the 2FA verification.

Sell All Holdings

Go to your 'Holdings' and sell all your stocks, ETFs, and mutual funds. Ensure no pending orders or open positions remain.

Withdraw Your Funds

After selling, go to 'Funds' → 'Withdraw' and transfer your entire available balance to your linked bank account.

Send Account Closure Email

Send an email to support@zerodha.com from your registered email address requesting account deactivation. Include your client ID and full name in the email.
