Can I still use ConfigCat after cancelling my paid plan?

Yes. Downgrading to the Free plan keeps your account active. You retain access to feature flags and configurations, but you will be limited to the Free plan's quotas (e.g., 10 feature flags, 2 environments, 5 team members). You won't be able to add new resources beyond the Free plan limits.

Will I get a refund when I cancel?

No. ConfigCat's Terms of Service state that all payments are non-refundable and non-creditable. The only exceptions are if ConfigCat terminates service due to their own failure (pro-rata refund) or if the entire service is discontinued (90 days notice + refund). Voluntary cancellations do not qualify for a refund.

What happens to my data after I cancel?

Your data is retained as long as there is activity in your organization. Free plan accounts get 7-day audit log retention. If your organization becomes inactive (no API calls, no CDN downloads, no audit events, no paid subscription), ConfigCat may delete the account after sending email notifications. You should export any critical configuration data before becoming inactive.

Can I reactivate my paid subscription later?

Yes. You can upgrade back to a paid plan at any time by visiting https://app.configcat.com/organization/plans and clicking the upgrade button on the desired plan. You will be taken to Chargebee to complete the purchase.

Do I need to cancel 30 days in advance?

For annual and enterprise plans, yes — you must provide written notice of non-renewal at least 30 days before your subscription term ends, or it will automatically renew. For monthly self-service plans (Free, Pro, Smart), you can switch plans at any time without advance notice.

Who needs to perform the cancellation?

Only a user with the Billing Manager role in your ConfigCat organization can access the Plans page and change the subscription. If you are not the Billing Manager, ask your organization's admin to either perform the cancellation or grant you the Billing Manager role first.

Log in to ConfigCat

Go to https://app.configcat.com and sign in with your account credentials.

Go to your Organization Plans page

Navigate to https://app.configcat.com/organization/plans. You must have the Billing Manager role assigned to your account to access this page. If you don't have this role, ask your organization admin to grant it or perform the cancellation themselves.

Locate the Free plan column

On the Plans page, find the 'Free' plan option in the plan comparison grid.

Click 'Switch Plan' under Free

Click the 'Switch Plan' button displayed under the Free plan. This initiates a downgrade from your current paid plan to the free tier, effectively cancelling your paid subscription.

Confirm the downgrade

Review and confirm the plan change when prompted. Your paid subscription will be cancelled and your account will move to the Free plan. Billing is managed through Chargebee, so any confirmation dialog may reference Chargebee.

For annual plans: send written cancellation notice

If you are on an annual or enterprise subscription, you must also send a written non-renewal notice at least 30 days before your current subscription term ends to prevent automatic renewal. Contact ConfigCat support at support@configcat.com with your cancellation request.
