What is the notice period for canceling A1 Mobile?

A1 requires at least one month's notice to the end of the calendar month ('mindestens einen Monat zum Monatsende'). For example, if you cancel on April 5th, the earliest your contract can end is May 31st.

Can I keep my phone number after canceling?

Yes. You can port your number to another carrier ('Rufnummernmitnahme'). Importantly, initiating a number port automatically cancels your A1 contract — you do not need to separately submit a written cancellation.

Will I lose my A1 email address when I cancel?

Yes. After cancellation, any email addresses included in your A1 product (e.g., @a1.net addresses) and A1 Family benefits are permanently deleted. Activate an A1.net username in Mein A1 before cancellation if you want to retain access to past online invoices.

Are there fees for canceling before my contract ends?

If you cancel during the minimum contract period (typically 12 or 24 months), you are still liable for the monthly fees through the end of that binding period. Can I cancel without penalty due to extraordinary circumstances?

Yes, in specific cases: if A1 raises prices, if the contracted internet speed consistently falls below 70% of the agreed rate, if service becomes unavailable at your address, or in the event of the account holder's death. In these cases you can cancel immediately without penalty ('außerordentliche Kündigung').

Can I reactivate my A1 contract after cancellation?

Choose your cancellation method

Select either: (a) Phone — call 0800 664 100 45, Monday–Friday 8:00–19:00; or (b) Chat — start a conversation with the Kara chatbot (24/7, accessible from the cancellation page). Phone is the fastest method per A1's own FAQ.

State your cancellation request

Tell the agent or Kara chatbot: 'Ich möchte meinen Vertrag kündigen' (I want to cancel my contract). Have ready: your customer number (Kundennummer), date of birth or account password for identity verification, and your desired termination date.

Decline retention offers

A1 will present personalized alternative tariffs via 'Meine Angebote' (My Offers) before processing the cancellation. You can review or decline these — say 'Nein danke, ich möchte kündigen' (No thank you, I want to cancel) to proceed.

Confirm the termination date
