Will I lose access immediately when I cancel?

No. DStv operates on a prepaid model, so your service continues until the end of the current billing cycle you have already paid for. If you schedule disconnection 'On next payment date', you retain full access until that date.

Can I get a refund after cancelling?

Generally no. DStv does not issue refunds for the unused portion of a prepaid billing period. The only exception is if you were charged in error (e.g. a double charge), in which case you can contact customer support to request a reversal.

What happens if I am on a Price Lock contract?

If you subscribed to a DStv Price Lock (fixed-term discounted contract), cancelling early will incur a termination fee. The fee is calculated based on the discounts granted to you during the contract period. Check your contract terms before proceeding.

Can I reactivate my DStv subscription after cancelling?

Yes. You can reconnect at any time by logging back into your account at dstv.com, going to My Products, and selecting a package to resubscribe. Your SmartCard number and account history are retained.

Can I cancel via the MyDStv mobile app instead of the website?

Yes. Open the MyDStv app, sign in (not as guest), tap your active package, scroll to find 'Disconnect', then follow the same scheduling and confirmation steps as on the website.

Can I cancel via WhatsApp?

Yes. Save the DStv WhatsApp number 060 060 3788, send 'Hello' to start the self-service bot, select 'My Products', and follow the prompts to disconnect your package. This is available 24/7.

Log in to DStv website

Go to www.dstv.com and click 'Sign In' in the top-right corner. Enter your DStv account email and password. Make sure you are signed in as the account holder, not as a guest.

Open My Products

From your account dashboard, click on 'My Products' in the main navigation or account menu. This section lists all active packages tied to your SmartCard number.

Select the package to cancel

Find the active subscription package you want to cancel (e.g. DStv Compact, DStv Premium). Click on it to open the package management options.

Click the Disconnect icon

Look for the 'Disconnect' icon or button within the package details screen. DStv uses the word 'Disconnect' rather than 'Cancel' throughout their interface.

Schedule your disconnection

You will be prompted to choose when the disconnection takes effect. Select 'On next payment date' to retain access until the end of your current billing period and avoid any immediate loss of service.

Confirm the disconnection

Review the confirmation screen showing your disconnection date. Click 'Confirm' or 'Submit' to finalise. Save or screenshot any confirmation reference number shown.
