What happens to my account after I cancel a paid plan?

Your account is downgraded to the free tier, which includes 10,000 participant-minutes per month at no charge. You retain access to the dashboard and can continue making API calls within the free-tier limits.

Can I get a refund after canceling?

Daily.co does not publish an explicit refund policy for user-initiated cancellations. Their Terms of Service require payment of all outstanding invoices through the cancellation date. Refunds are only explicitly guaranteed if Daily terminates your account without cause.

How do I completely delete my Daily.co account and data?

Send an email from your registered account address to delete@daily.co. Daily will remove your account and all associated data. This is irreversible, so back up any recordings or important data before requesting deletion.

Will usage-based charges stop automatically if I stop using the API?

Yes. Daily.co uses a pay-as-you-go model for most video minutes — you are only billed for participant-minutes you actually consume. If you stop making API calls, usage charges stop. The recurring subscription fees (e.g., $1,500/month Premium Support) are what must be explicitly canceled.

Can I reactivate a canceled paid plan?

Reactivation is not documented publicly, but you can presumably re-enter a payment method in the Billing tab of your dashboard to upgrade again at any time, since your account remains active on the free tier after cancellation.

How long is my data retained after canceling?

Daily.co retains logs and metrics for only 1 day for unpaid (free) accounts. You are responsible for backing up your content before termination — Daily accepts no liability for data loss after account cancellation or deletion.

Log in to your Daily dashboard

Go to https://dashboard.daily.co and sign in with your Daily.co account credentials.

Open the Billing tab

In the left sidebar, click the 'Billing' tab. This tab is only visible if you have a credit card on file (paid plan). Free-tier users see an 'Upgrade' tab instead.

Locate the cancel option

Within the Billing page, find the option to cancel your plan. Daily's help documentation confirms 'cancel your plan' is available directly on this page alongside options to update your card, billing email, and add-ons.

Confirm cancellation

Follow the on-screen prompt to confirm you want to cancel. Your account will drop to the free tier (10,000 participant-minutes/month) — the account itself remains open.

Optional: Request full account deletion

If you want your account and all data permanently deleted (not just the paid plan canceled), send an email from your registered address to delete@daily.co. This action is irreversible — back up any recordings or data first.
