What happens to my investments when I close my DEGIRO account?

You must sell all your investments before closing your DEGIRO account. DEGIRO currently doesn't support outgoing in-specie transfers in most markets, so you'll need to sell your holdings first.

Are there fees for closing a DEGIRO account?

DEGIRO doesn't charge an account closure fee. Standard trading fees apply when selling your holdings. There's also a €2.50 annual connectivity fee per exchange, charged in October.

How long does it take to close a DEGIRO account?

Once you sell all holdings and withdraw funds, account closure is usually processed within 1–5 business days. Withdrawals are typically credited to your bank within 1–3 business days.

Log in to DEGIRO

Go to degiro.eu and log in to your account.

Sell All Holdings

Navigate to your portfolio and sell all your shares, ETFs, and other securities. Your portfolio must be empty before you can close the account.

Withdraw Cash Balance

Once all holdings are sold, go to 'Deposit / Withdraw' → 'Withdraw' and transfer your entire cash balance to your linked bank account.

Access Account Settings

Click your name or profile icon in the top-right corner and go to 'Settings' → 'Profile'.

Submit Account Closure Request

Scroll to the bottom and click 'Close Account'. Follow the confirmation steps. DEGIRO may ask you to confirm via email.
