Can I still access my files after cancelling?

Cancellation takes effect immediately. Once cancelled, backups stop and your stored data is scheduled for deletion. Download any files you need before cancelling, as there is no continued access after the account closes.

How long does SpiderOak keep my data after cancellation?

SpiderOak retains your encrypted data for approximately 5 days after account closure as a safeguard. After that window, data is permanently purged from their servers and cannot be recovered.

Can I get a refund after cancelling?

SpiderOak's standard policy is not to issue refunds unless required by law. For exceptional circumstances, email billing@spideroak.com with your situation — cases are reviewed individually and refunds have been granted on a case-by-case basis.

Can I reactivate my account after cancelling?

There is no formal reactivation process. If you cancel by mistake, contact SpiderOak Support immediately at support@spideroak.com — your data recovery window is only around 5 days before permanent deletion.

Does uninstalling the SpiderOak ONE app cancel my subscription?

No. Uninstalling the desktop application does not cancel your subscription. You must explicitly cancel through the account portal at spideroak.com/browse/login/storage to stop being billed.

What happens if I subscribed through PayPal?

If you signed up via PayPal, you must cancel your subscription both in the SpiderOak account portal AND separately in your PayPal account by cancelling the recurring payment. Failing to cancel in PayPal will result in continued charges even after closing your SpiderOak account.

Go to SpiderOak account login

Navigate to https://spideroak.com/browse/login/storage in your browser.

Click 'Backup login'

Click the 'Backup login' button in the top right corner of the page.

Enter credentials and log in

Enter your email address and password, check the checkbox labeled 'I understand that for complete No Knowledge privacy, I should only access data through the SpiderOak desktop application', then click the 'Log in' button.

Open the Account tab

Once logged in, click the 'account' tab in the navigation along the top of the browser window.

Scroll to the bottom and click 'Cancel Account'

Scroll to the very bottom of the Account page and click the 'Cancel Account' link.

Confirm cancellation

Follow any on-screen confirmation prompts to complete the cancellation.

Cancel PayPal billing separately (if applicable)

If you subscribed via PayPal, log in to your PayPal account separately and cancel the recurring payment to SpiderOak — cancelling in-app alone will not stop PayPal charges.
