Will I lose access immediately after downgrading?

No. Your paid plan remains active until the end of the current billing cycle. The downgrade to Free takes effect at the start of the next cycle.

Can I get a refund after cancelling?

SonarSource has a general no-refund policy. However, they may consider a refund if the account was unused for an extended period or if you are very early in a new billing cycle — contact support at contact@sonarcloud.io to request one.

What happens to my data after I cancel?

Your data is deleted from SonarSource servers 30 days after cancellation and removed from backup systems after 90 days. Recovery is only possible within the first 30 days.

Can I cancel by deleting my organization instead?

Yes. Deleting the organization stops all billing automatically since there is nothing left to bill. Navigate to your organization settings to delete it, but note this is irreversible and all project data will be lost.

How do I cancel a SonarQube Server (self-hosted) or Enterprise plan?

There is no self-service cancellation for SonarQube Server or annual/Enterprise plans. You must contact the sales team directly at sales@sonarsource.com or open a support ticket to terminate the commercial license contract.

Can an admin cancel on behalf of the account owner?

No. Per SonarSource's cancellation policy, only the verified account owner can initiate a cancellation or plan downgrade.

Go to your SonarQube Cloud organization

Open Billing and upgrade

In the left-hand navigation sidebar, click 'Billing and upgrade'.

Click Modify plan

Under the 'Current plan' section, click the 'Modify plan' button.

Visit the compare plan page

Click the 'visit our compare plan page' link shown in the plan modification screen.

Select Downgrade to Free

In the Free column on the compare plans page, click the 'Downgrade to Free' button. Note: if your organization has more than 5 members, you'll see a compliance warning first.

Review feature losses

A 'gains and losses' screen lists all features that will be removed (branch analysis, custom quality profiles, permission templates, scoped tokens, etc.). Review and proceed.

Confirm downgrade

Type your organization name in the confirmation text box, then click 'Downgrade organization'. The downgrade takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle — you will not be refunded for the current period.
