Call Telmex customer service
Call 800 123 2222 from any phone, or dial *2222 from your Telmex landline. When the automated system answers, press 1 if calling from the Telmex line you want to cancel, or press 2 if calling from a different number (you will then be asked to enter your 10-digit Telmex number).
Navigate the phone menu
From the main menu, select option 5 ('Cambio de domicilio y otros servicios' / Change of address and other services), then select option 2 ('Otras gestiones' / Other transactions). Wait to be connected to a live representative.
Request cancellation ('baja de servicio')
Tell the representative you want to cancel your service: 'Quiero dar de baja mi servicio.' Specify whether you are cancelling internet, phone line, or both. The representative will ask for your reason — providing one is required to proceed.
Decline retention offers
The representative will offer promotional discounts, speed upgrades, or package changes to keep you as a customer ('El ejecutivo te ofrecerá promociones para que cambies de opinión'). Decline firmly and repeat your cancellation request. You are not obligated to accept any offer.
Receive and save your folio number
Once the representative processes your request, they will give you a cancellation reference number (folio). Write this down — you will need it to complete the process at a service center. The call typically takes 20–25 minutes.
Gather required documents and equipment
Before visiting a service center, prepare: your valid official government-issued ID (INE, passport, or cédula profesional), your most recent Telmex bill, the modem and any other Telmex-provided equipment (router, phone handset), and your folio number. Only the account holder (titular del contrato) can complete the cancellation.
Visit a Telmex Centro de Atención
Locate the nearest Telmex customer service center at telmex.com/web/portal/sucursales. Present your folio number, ID, last bill, and equipment to the agent. The agent will verify there are no outstanding balances and inspect the modem's condition. Sign the cancellation documentation.
Receive equipment return receipt and confirmation
The agent will give you a comprobante de entrega de equipo (equipment return receipt) and confirm your cancellation folio. Keep both documents. The cancellation is registered within 24 business hours. Verify completion by logging into mitelmex.telmex.com — your service should no longer appear as active.
