Can I still access my content after cancelling the Team plan?

Yes. All your pages and databases remain intact and accessible after downgrading to Free. However, some paid features become unavailable: file uploads over 5 MB are locked (files remain stored but cannot be opened), unlimited version history is reduced to 7 days on Free, and certain admin/permission features are removed.

Will I receive a refund when I cancel?

Notion offers a full refund if you downgrade within 3 days of your monthly invoice being created, or within 30 days for annual plans. Outside those windows, no pro-rated refund is issued — you retain access until the billing period ends. EU and UK customers have extended rights: up to 14 days for monthly plans. To request a refund, contact Notion support inside the app or email [email protected].

When exactly does the cancellation take effect?

The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing period (monthly or annual). You keep all Team plan features until that date, after which the workspace automatically switches to the Free tier.

Can I reactivate the Team plan after cancelling?

Yes. You can upgrade back to a paid plan at any time from Settings > Billing > Change plan. Your existing content and workspace structure are preserved on the Free plan, so reactivating restores full access immediately.

What happens to team members when I cancel?

All existing workspace members remain in the workspace on the Free plan. However, the Free plan has a limit of 10 guests (non-members with limited access), and some collaboration and permission features are restricted. Full members are not automatically removed.

Does deleting my workspace cancel the subscription?

No. Deleting a workspace does NOT automatically cancel your subscription — you will continue to be billed. You must explicitly downgrade your plan through Settings > Billing before or instead of deleting the workspace.

Open Settings & Members

Log in to Notion on the web or desktop app. In the left sidebar, click on 'Settings & Members' (or click your workspace name at the top-left and select 'Settings').

Go to Billing

In the Settings panel, click 'Billing' in the left-hand menu. This shows your current plan, next billing date, and payment method.

Click 'Change plan'

Under your current plan details, click the 'Change plan' button. You may also see a 'Cancel plan' link below the billing details.

Select 'Downgrade to Free'

On the plan selection screen, choose the Free tier to cancel your paid Team/Business subscription. Click 'Downgrade' to proceed.

Complete the cancellation survey

Notion presents a short optional feedback survey asking why you are cancelling (options include cost, missing features, switching tools, etc.). Select a reason or skip, then click 'Continue'.

Confirm the downgrade

Review the confirmation screen showing what features will be lost on the Free plan and when the downgrade takes effect (end of current billing period). Click 'Downgrade' to confirm.

Check email confirmation

Notion sends a confirmation email to the workspace owner's address. Your Team plan remains active until the end of the current billing cycle, after which the workspace switches to Free.
