Will I get a refund when I cancel?

No automatic refund is issued. Your paid features remain active until the end of the current billing cycle and you will not be charged for the next period. Pro-rated refunds are not standard, but you can contact Square support to request one at their discretion.

Can I still use Square after canceling?

Yes. You retain access to all paid features through the end of your current billing period. After that, your account automatically reverts to the free Square plan — you keep your account, data, and history.

Can I reactivate my subscription after canceling?

Yes. Go back to Settings > Account & Settings > Pricing & subscriptions, click 'Manage', and select 'Reactivate Subscription'. Note: if you fully deactivate your Square account (not just cancel the subscription), that action is irreversible and a new account must be created.

Will canceling delete my business data?

No. Canceling a subscription does not delete your data. Your payment history, reports, customer directory, and 1099-K forms remain accessible on the free plan. Only a full account deactivation causes permanent data loss — if you plan to deactivate, export your data first.

Is there a contract or early termination fee?

No. Square subscriptions are month-to-month with no contracts, minimum terms, or early termination fees. You can cancel at any time.

How do I cancel a customer's recurring subscription I set up for them?

In your Square Dashboard, go to Payments > Subscriptions, find the customer's subscription, click the three-dot menu (•••), and select 'Cancel Subscription'. This cancels the recurring billing for that customer, not your own Square account.

Sign in to Square Dashboard

Go to app.squareup.com and sign in to your Square account.

Open Account & Settings

Click the gear icon (Settings) in the bottom-left corner, then select 'Account & Settings'.

Go to Pricing & Subscriptions

Click 'Pricing & subscriptions' in the left menu. This shows all active Square subscriptions on your account (e.g., Square Plus, Square for Retail, Square for Restaurants).

Click Manage on the subscription

Find the subscription you want to cancel and click the 'Manage' button next to it.

Select Unsubscribe

Click 'Unsubscribe' (or 'Cancel service' on some plan types). Square may present a 'Pause' option as an alternative — skip this and proceed with cancellation.

Confirm cancellation

Confirm your choice when prompted. Your subscription remains active through the end of the current billing period, then reverts to the free Square plan.
