Does AWS Amplify have a subscription to cancel?

No. AWS Amplify is purely pay-as-you-go with no monthly subscription or contract. You are billed only for the resources you consume (build minutes, storage, data transfer). To stop charges, you simply delete your app and all associated AWS resources.

Will I get a refund after deleting my Amplify app?

AWS does not provide refunds for usage already incurred. Charges stop once the app and all associated resources are deleted. If you believe you were charged in error, you can contact AWS Support to request a billing review.

What happens to my data when I delete my Amplify app?

Deleting an Amplify app permanently removes the app and its Amplify-managed resources. The deletion is irreversible and data cannot be recovered. However, any independently provisioned AWS resources (S3 buckets, DynamoDB tables, etc.) are not automatically deleted and must be removed manually.

Can I reactivate or restore a deleted Amplify app?

No. Once deleted, an Amplify app cannot be restored or reactivated. You would need to create a new Amplify app and redeploy your project from scratch.

How do I make sure I am not charged anything after deleting my app?

After deleting your Amplify app, go to the AWS Billing and Cost Management console (console.aws.amazon.com/billing/) and review the 'Bills' and 'Cost Explorer' sections. Check each AWS service listed for any remaining resources — especially S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, Cognito, and CloudFront — and delete them individually in their respective consoles.

Can I close my entire AWS account instead?

Yes. If you want to stop all AWS charges entirely, go to 'My Account' in the AWS Console, scroll to the 'Close Account' section, confirm the terms, and click 'Close Account'. AWS will send a confirmation email. The account enters a 90-day deactivation period before all data is permanently deleted.

Sign in to AWS Console

Go to https://console.aws.amazon.com and sign in with your AWS root account or IAM user credentials.

Navigate to AWS Amplify

In the AWS Management Console, search for 'Amplify' in the top search bar and select 'AWS Amplify' from the results, or go directly to https://console.aws.amazon.com/amplify/.

Select your app

On the Amplify console home page, click on the application you want to stop/delete from the list of your apps.

Open App settings → General settings

In the left-hand navigation panel for your selected app, click 'App settings', then choose 'General settings'. Alternatively, click the 'Actions' dropdown button at the top of the app page.

Click 'Delete app'

In the General settings page, scroll down and click the 'Delete app' button. If using the Actions dropdown, select 'Delete app' from the menu.

Confirm deletion

A confirmation dialog will appear. Type the word 'delete' in the text field exactly as shown, then click the 'Delete app' button to confirm. The app and its Amplify-managed backend resources will be permanently removed.

Clean up remaining AWS resources

Go to the AWS Billing Dashboard (https://console.aws.amazon.com/billing/) and check for lingering charges. Amplify may have provisioned separate AWS services (S3 buckets, Lambda functions, DynamoDB tables, Cognito user pools, CloudFront distributions) that are billed independently and must be deleted manually in each respective AWS service console.
