Identify your plan type
Determine whether you have an Essentials (Social Media Management) plan or an Enterprise/Consumer Intelligence plan — the cancellation path differs. Check your original sign-up confirmation email or invoice for the plan name.
Check your contract notice period
For Essentials monthly plans, you can cancel any time before the end of the current billing period. For Essentials annual plans, you must give at least 30 days notice before your renewal date. For Enterprise plans, check your Master Subscription Agreement (Section 9) — notice periods are typically 60–90 days before term end.
Contact Brandwatch to cancel
Essentials plan: send an email to essentials@brandwatch.com stating your account name/email, your intent to cancel, and desired end date. Enterprise/agency plan: submit a support request at https://www.brandwatch.com/customer-support/ and select 'Billing' as the inquiry type, or use the in-app chat (click the chat icon in the lower-right corner of the platform → 'Ask a question') and state you want to initiate cancellation.
Export your data before cancellation
Brandwatch does not publish a formal data retention policy. Before your cancellation takes effect, export any reports, mentions, or dashboards you need. Request a data export window from support in the same cancellation email if needed.
Get written confirmation
Wait for a confirmation response from Brandwatch (typically within 4–24 business hours for Essentials; varies for Enterprise). Keep the confirmation email as proof of your cancellation request date — this is critical given reported issues with unacknowledged cancellation emails.
Verify no further charges
After the confirmed cancellation date, check your payment method to ensure no additional billing occurs. If auto-renewal was already triggered, contact essentials@brandwatch.com or cardpayment@brandwatch.com to dispute the charge.
