Can I still use Better Stack after canceling my paid plan?

Yes. Better Stack offers a permanent Free plan ($0/month) that includes 10 monitors, 10 heartbeats, 1 status page, and Slack/email alerts. Downgrading to Free retains access with reduced limits. If you delete your team or account entirely, access is permanently lost.

Am I eligible for a refund after canceling?

Better Stack offers a 60-day money-back guarantee for new customers. Outside that window, their Terms of Service state they have no obligation to provide refunds. Contact hello@betterstack.com within 60 days of your first charge to request a refund.

What happens to my monitors and data when I cancel or downgrade?

If you downgrade to the Free plan, monitoring continues within the free tier limits (10 monitors). Monitors exceeding those limits will be paused. If you remove your team or delete your account, all data is permanently destroyed and monitoring stops immediately — this cannot be reverted.

Can I reactivate my subscription after canceling?

If you downgraded to the Free plan, you can upgrade again at any time by going to Settings → Billing and selecting a paid plan. If you permanently deleted your team or account, you would need to create a new account from scratch as the deletion is irreversible.

How do I cancel Better Uptime if I added it as a Heroku add-on?

Run `heroku addons:destroy betteruptime` in your terminal. This removes the add-on, stops billing via Heroku, and destroys all associated monitoring data. The BETTERUPTIME_API_TOKEN environment variable is also removed from your app.

Will I be charged after I remove my paid add-ons?

No. Better Stack's billing is modular — once you remove all paid add-ons and are on the Free plan, no further charges are made. If you cancel mid-cycle on a monthly plan, your paid features remain active until the end of the billing period and you are not charged again.

Log in to Better Stack

Go to betterstack.com and sign in to your account. You'll land on the main dashboard.

Open Account Settings

Click your account name or avatar in the top-right corner of the dashboard. Select 'Your account' from the dropdown menu.

Navigate to Billing / Plan Settings

In the account or team settings sidebar, locate the 'Billing' section. Here you can see your current plan, usage, and active paid add-ons (monitors, responders, log retention, etc.).

Downgrade to Free Plan or Remove Paid Add-ons

To stop paying, reduce all paid add-ons to zero and switch to the Free plan ($0/month). Better Stack uses a modular pay-as-you-go model — there is no single 'Cancel' button. Alternatively, navigate to Settings → Teams, select your team, and click 'Permanently remove team' to fully delete the team and stop all billing.

Confirm Removal (if deleting team)

If removing the team, click 'Permanently remove team' on the Teams settings page (betterstack.com/settings/teams). This stops all monitoring and billing for that team. This action cannot be reverted.

Optional: Delete Your Account Entirely

If you want to fully delete your Better Stack account: click your account name (top-right) → 'Your account' → scroll to the bottom → click 'Permanently remove your account'. This is irreversible and destroys all data.
