Will I lose access immediately after cancelling?

No. Your access continues until the end of your current paid billing period. You will not be charged again after cancellation.

Can I get a refund after cancelling?

Showmax operates on a prepaid, no-refund model. Unused days in your current billing period are not refunded. Exceptions may apply for duplicate charges, incorrect billing, or charges with no service access.

How do I cancel if I subscribed through Google Play or Apple?

If billed via Google Play, go to Play Store > Profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > Showmax > Cancel subscription. If billed via Apple, go to Settings > your Apple ID > Subscriptions > Showmax > Cancel Subscription.

Can I reactivate my account after cancelling?

Yes — log back into your Showmax account and make a new payment. Your viewing history and preferences are saved for 12 months. Note: given Showmax's planned shutdown on 30 April 2026, new subscriptions are no longer accepted as of 1 April 2026.

What if I subscribed through DStv or a mobile carrier?

Showmax cannot cancel third-party-billed subscriptions on your behalf. You must cancel directly with DStv via their Self Service portal, or contact your mobile carrier.

Sign in to Showmax

Go to showmax.com and click the 'Sign in' button in the top right corner. Enter your email and password, then click the blue 'Sign in' button.

Open your account menu

After signing in, click your profile icon or name in the top right corner to open the dropdown menu.

Go to My Account

Select 'My Account' from the dropdown menu.

Navigate to Manage Subscriptions

In the left sidebar of your account page, click 'Manage Subscriptions' to view your current plan and billing details.

Click Cancel Subscription

Scroll to the bottom of the Manage Subscriptions page and click 'Cancel Subscription'. If you subscribed via DStv, you will be redirected to the DStv Self Service website to complete cancellation there.

Decline any retention offer

Showmax may present a discount or retention offer before letting you proceed. Click through or decline the offer to continue with cancellation.

Confirm cancellation

Confirm the cancellation when prompted. You will receive a confirmation email. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
