Is there a self-serve cancel button in the Gainsight app?

No. Gainsight has no in-app cancellation feature. All cancellations are handled through your assigned Customer Success Manager or Account Executive via email.

How much notice do I need to give before cancelling?

30 days written notice before the subscription term end date for Gainsight CS and Customer Communities; 45 days for Gainsight PX. Contracts auto-renew if notice is not given in time.

Will I get a refund if I cancel mid-term?

For Gainsight CS and Customer Communities, prepaid fees are non-refundable upon mid-term cancellation. Gainsight PX is the exception — it offers a pro-rated refund of unused prepaid fees upon termination.

What happens to my data after cancellation?

Gainsight deletes or returns all client data per DPA terms after the subscription ends. Data deleted post-termination is only recoverable via REST API for 15 days, so export your data before the subscription expires.

Can I cancel Gainsight before my contract ends?

Early termination is generally not permitted without penalty. You may exit early by invoking a material breach clause (requires 30 days written notice to cure), or by negotiating directly with your Account Executive.

Who do I contact if I don't know my CSM?

Review your contract end date and notice period

Locate your Order Form or contract and find the Subscription Term end date. Note the required notice period: 30 days before renewal for Gainsight CS and Customer Communities; 45 days before renewal for Gainsight PX. Contracts auto-renew for 12-month periods if notice is not given in time.

Contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) or Account Executive (AE)

Reach out directly by email to your assigned CSM or AE to notify them of your intent not to renew. If you do not know who your CSM is, email support@gainsight.com (for CS/Community products) or pxsupport@gainsight.com (for PX).

Submit formal written non-renewal notice

Send a written email explicitly stating you do not wish to renew at the end of your current subscription term. Reference your Order Form number in the email. This email to your CSM or AE constitutes the required written notice per contract terms.

Export your data before termination

Before your subscription ends, export all data via CSV export or the REST API (Lead, User, and Account data). Data deleted after termination is only recoverable via REST API for 15 days. For GDPR data deletion requests, email privacy@gainsight.com.

Confirm cancellation via Support portal (optional)

Visit https://support.gainsight.com/ and click 'Submit A Request' to open a support ticket confirming the non-renewal. Provide your email, subject line referencing account cancellation, and your account/Order Form details. You will receive a ticket confirmation by email.
