Check your contract terms

Before cancelling, check your HomeCare policy documents or log in to My Account at britishgas.co.uk to confirm your contract start date and renewal date. Note whether you are within the 14-day cooling-off period (full refund, no fees) or mid-contract (refund for unused period, but any work already carried out by British Gas may be charged).

Call the HomeCare-specific line. When connected to the automated system, clearly state 'cancel HomeCare' or press the option for 'home services'. Enter your customer reference number when prompted to be routed to a cancellation representative.

Confirm cancellation with the representative

Inform the representative you wish to cancel your HomeCare cover. They will confirm your effective cancellation date (the date you contact them), any refund amount for the unused portion of your contract, and whether any charges apply for work already performed. Ask for a cancellation confirmation number or email.

Confirm in writing (optional but recommended)
