Log in to Starburst Galaxy
Go to galaxy.starburst.io and sign in with your credentials. Ensure you are logged in as an account Admin, as only Admin users can manage billing and initiate account closure.
Stop all running clusters
In the left navigation, click 'Clusters'. For each running cluster, click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to it and select 'Stop cluster' to halt any ongoing compute charges before proceeding.
Review your billing balance
Click your account name or the gear icon in the top-right corner, then select 'Billing'. Review the current balance and any outstanding usage charges displayed in the billing header.
Open the in-app support chat
Click the chat bubble icon in the lower-right corner of the Starburst Galaxy interface to open the 24/7 live support chat. This is the primary channel for account closure requests.
Request account cancellation
In the support chat, state that you want to cancel your Starburst Galaxy subscription and close your account. Provide your account name and the email address associated with the account. The support agent will verify your identity.
Confirm cancellation with support
Follow the support agent’s instructions to confirm the cancellation. They may ask for a reason for leaving and may present alternative options (downgrading to Free plan, pausing usage). Confirm you want the account fully closed.
Check for confirmation email
After the support interaction, watch for a confirmation email from Starburst (from a @starburstdata.com address) confirming your account has been closed and billing has been stopped.
