Check contract status

Log into MyVodafone at vodafone.ro or open the MyVodafone app and navigate to your account/contract section. Find 'Perioada Minimă Contractuală' (minimum contract period) on your latest invoice to confirm whether you are still in-contract. Note your 'codul de client' (client code) from the invoice — you will need it in the request.

Decide on number portability

If you want to keep your phone number when switching to another operator, do NOT submit a cancellation request. Instead, submit a portability ('portare') request with the new operator — they will handle cancellation automatically. Only proceed with direct cancellation if you do not need to keep the number.

Prepare the written cancellation request

Write a cancellation request that includes: your full name, client code ('codul de client'), Romanian national ID number (CNP), the phone number or service being cancelled, and the statement: 'Solicit încetarea/rezilierea contractului începând cu data de [DATE], cu respectarea preavizului de 30 de zile.' Attach a copy of your identity document and add your handwritten signature.

Submit the cancellation request

Send the request by email to persoane.fizice_ro@vodafone.com (mobile services) or persoanefizice_fix_tv@vodafone.com (fixed line / TV). Alternatively, submit via the MyVodafone portal under account/contract management, visit a Vodafone store in person with your ID, or send a registered letter ('scrisoare recomandată cu confirmare de primire') to Strada Barbu Văcărescu nr. 201, etaj 8, sector 2, 020276 București. Email or registered mail is strongly recommended for proof.

Handle the retention call

After receiving your request, Vodafone's 'Departamentul de Reziliere Contracte' will call you with retention offers (discounts, free months, device deals). Politely decline and ask: 'Confirmați primirea cererii mele de reziliere?' (Do you confirm receipt of my cancellation request?). Get a support ticket number or written confirmation before ending the call.

Wait out the 30-day notice period

Service remains active for 30 days from the date Vodafone receives your request. One final invoice will be issued for this notice period. Pay it within 14 days to avoid a 0.5% per day late fee.

Return equipment

If you have a router, TV decoder/mediabox, remote controls, or power supplies, return them to an official Vodafone store within 5–10 business days of service closure. Request a signed 'Protocol de Predare-Primire' (Handover Protocol) as proof of return. Non-return penalties range from 300 to 1,000 RON depending on the equipment.
